About Me:

Dr. JoyAnna Hopper is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at The University of Scranton. She is also the co-director of The University of Scranton's Center for Ethics and Excellence in Public Service. Dr. Hopper earned a B.A. in Political Science from Eastern Illinois University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from The University of Missouri. Her areas of specialization include public administration and policy and American politics.Dr. Hopper teaches courses for the Political Science major and the Public Administration and Public Policy track, including courses in U.S. political institutions, social welfare and environmental policy, federalism, and research methods. Dr. Hopper’s research focuses primarily on state-level environmental policy enforcement and the implications of bureaucratic structure. In her recent book, Environmental Agencies in the United States (Rowman and Littlefield: Lexington Books, 2020), she looks at the implications of environmental agency design for state-level environmental enforcement.
